The Keith B. Mather Library is the most northern special library in the United States. The library supports the research of the Geophysical Institute, the International Arctic Research Center and the geophysical research community.

Mather Library is a member of the Alaska Library Catalog, a consortium of 87 public, academic, special and K-12 libraries serving 92 percent of the population of Alaska. The shared catalog has 3.2 million titles. The Alaska Library Catalog can be used to locate books, videos, reports and other materials owned by the UAF Keith B. Mather Library and UAF Rasmuson Library as well as other ALC libraries throughout Alaska.

- Alaska Patent and Trademark Resource

Mather Library is designated a Patent and Trademark Resource Center by the U.S. Department of Commerce Patent and Trademark Office. The library receives and houses copies of U.S. patents and trademark materials, makes them readily available to the public, and disseminates patent and trademark information. Additional patent resource books are available to borrow from the library’s collection.

Requests for information may be made by telephone, email, or in person. It is advisable to call for an appointment before coming to the library for patent or trademark information. - Collaboration Space

Mather Library has private and semi-private meeting spaces available for collaborative work and meetings for University of Alaska affiliated groups during library hours. Preference is given to faculty, students and/or staff of the Geophysical Institute and/or International Arctic Research Center.
C-Space
C-Space is a semiprivate area that seats up to six. The integrated ShareLink monitor and system offers reliable content sharing via wire or wireless connectivity.

- Keith B. Mather Library Collaboration Space User Policy

Keith B. Mather Library has several spaces available for collaborative work and meetings. Groups utilizing these areas must be affiliated with the University of Alaska with priority given to faculty, students, and/or staff of the Geophysical Institute and/or International Arctic Research Center. Rooms are available for use during normal library hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- There is no charge for room usage.
- Requester/room users are responsible for their own equipment set-up.
- Room users are responsible for damages to equipment or furniture.
- Equipment and furniture should not be removed from rooms must leave the room clean and ready for the next user.
- Room users agree to maintain a respectable noise level while in the library/building.
You may visit the library during regular library hours to view the available spaces.
