Please join Professor Anupma Prakash Wednesday, February 27 at the College Coffeehouse to learn about and discuss the art and science behind satellite images. The satellite images will be from a collection called “Earth as Art.” The U.S. Geological Survey created the collection by digitally coloring some of their satellite images to show how textures and patterns in landscapes can convey beauty. The talk will kick off the UAF College of Natural Science and Mathematics’ Colors of Nature Science Cafe series, which will engage scientists and members of the community in conversations about art in science. The Science Cafe runs from 7 to 8 p.m. and all ages are welcome to the free event. Learn more at www.colorsofnature.org.
Professor Prakash holds a half-time appointment with the Geophysical Institute and a half-time appointment with the UAF CNSM.
