Geophysical Institute Outreach Office

The Outreach Office directs communication about the Geophysical Institute's scientific research through a wide range of programs, including education initiatives, public outreach campaigns, media relations, social media and diverse printed and electronic publications. The office is comprised of three departmental sections: Media and Public Relations, Design Services and Educational Outreach. The Outreach Director establishes long-term goals, strategic plans, and policies for all three sections, and orchestrates diverse expertise to ensure effective collaboration and dovetailed efficiency in accomplishing critical outreach and educational goals.
The Design Services team provides large-format printing, custom graphic design, website, desktop publishing and multimedia services to the Geophysical Institute and affiliated UAF research units. Our full-service department helps showcase your research in a professional and visually appealing way.

The Public Relations team promotes Geophysical Institute faculty, staff and student research activities through print, radio, television and online media. The Public Relations team constructs press releases, functions as media liaisons, plans scientific and community events and lectures, creates announcements and more.

The Education Outreach team brings geophysical research into K-12 classrooms throughout Alaska. The team develops K-12 curricular resources and teacher training programs based on Geophysical Institute research. Many of our programs are designed to increase the educational achievement of Alaska Native students.
